FIA Jobs: How to Apply Online, Eligibility, Test and Salary

FIA jobs are posts in the Federal Investigation Agency, Pakistan’s federal law enforcement agency under the Ministry of Interior, ranging from Constable (BS-5) to Assistant Director (BS-17). Junior and middle posts are filled through a testing service named in each advertisement, while officer posts such as Assistant Director are advertised through the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC). Applications are accepted online only.

PK Portals is an independent information site and is not linked to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), FPSC or any testing service. This guide is based on FIA’s official website, FIA advertisements reported by national newspapers in 2026 and the Finance Division’s Basic Pay Scales 2026; every new advertisement can change posts, age limits and fees, so always read the official advert before applying.

What FIA does and where staff are posted

FIA works across Pakistan through zonal offices in Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Islamabad. Its main wings deal with immigration at airports and land borders, anti-human trafficking and smuggling, anti-corruption, economic crime, anti-money laundering and counter terrorism. It also hosts Pakistan’s Interpol National Central Bureau and runs the FIA Academy for training.

Cyber crime cases are now handled by a separate body, the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), so cyber crime jobs are no longer part of FIA recruitment. Selected FIA candidates can be posted anywhere in Pakistan, which is normally stated in the advertisement.

FIA jobs list: posts, scales and qualifications

The table below shows the posts in FIA’s large recruitment drive announced on 19-20 April 2026, when 1,394 vacancies were advertised. It gives a good idea of what a typical FIA advertisement contains.

Senior ranks such as Deputy Director and above are mostly filled by promotion or by officers of the Police Service of Pakistan.

FIA jobs eligibility criteria

  • Nationality: Pakistani citizen with a valid CNIC.
  • Domicile: seats are divided under the federal regional quota (Punjab, Sindh rural and urban, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, AJK and merged areas), so your domicile decides which seats you compete for.
  • Age: set separately for each post in every advert. The April 2026 drive was reported with an upper limit of about 28 years for most posts, plus up to 5 years of general relaxation under government rules.
  • Education: from Matric for Constable to a bachelor’s degree for ASI, Sub-Inspector and Assistant; LLB with experience for legal posts.
  • Physical standards (uniformed posts): the 2026 advert was reported as 5 feet 6 inches height for men and 5 feet 4 inches for women, chest of 33 to 34.5 inches for men, and a 1.6 km run in 7 minutes for men and 10 minutes for women.
  • Government employees: must apply through proper channel and attach a no objection certificate (NOC).

How to apply for FIA jobs online

  1. Find the official advertisement. FIA adverts appear in national newspapers and the Careers section of fia.gov.pk; officer posts appear on fpsc.gov.pk.
  2. Note the testing service named in the advert. In April 2026 it was the National Police Foundation Testing and Assessment Service (npftas.pk); for Assistant Director posts it is FPSC.
  3. Create an account on that portal using your CNIC number, mobile number and email address.
  4. Fill in personal details, domicile, education, the post you want and your preferred test city. Submit a separate application for each post.
  5. Upload a recent photograph and the documents asked for in the form.
  6. Generate the fee voucher or PSID and pay through 1Link 1Bill (banking app, ATM, Easypaisa or JazzCash). The April 2026 drive was reported at Rs 2,000 per post, while FPSC charged Rs 600 for BS-16 and BS-17 posts in August 2026.
  7. Submit before the last date and save your application ID or printout.
  8. Download your roll number slip from the same portal when test dates are announced.

Documents to keep ready

  • CNIC and domicile certificate
  • Educational certificates and mark sheets
  • Recent passport-size photographs
  • Driving licence, typing or shorthand certificate, or experience letters where the post needs them
  • NOC if you are already a government employee, and the paid fee receipt

FIA test and selection process

Selection normally moves in stages, and failing one stage ends the process for that post.

  1. Physical test for Sub-Inspector, ASI, Constable and Constable Driver: height and chest measurement plus a timed run. It is qualifying only.
  2. Written test of multiple-choice questions, which can be paper-based or computer-based. It usually covers general knowledge, Pakistan affairs, current affairs, English, Urdu, basic mathematics and Islamiat or ethics.
  3. Skill test for typing and shorthand (Stenotypist and clerks) or driving (driver posts).
  4. Interview, where original documents are checked.
  5. Medical examination and character verification before the offer letter is issued.

How to spot fake FIA job adverts

  • Trust only adverts linked from fia.gov.pk, fpsc.gov.pk or printed in major newspapers with the official portal address.
  • The only payment is the official test fee paid through bank or 1Link channels. Nobody can guarantee selection for money.
  • Do not send CNIC copies or fees to WhatsApp numbers, Facebook pages or private email addresses.
  • Check the portal spelling carefully; fake sites often copy logos but use a slightly different address.
  • If someone asks for a bribe or runs a fake recruitment page, report it on FIA’s helpline 1991.
