FPSC Jobs: Online Registration, Application and Test Process

FPSC jobs are federal government posts, mostly from BS-16 to BS-21, filled by the Federal Public Service Commission through an online application, a written MCQ test and an interview. FPSC also runs the CSS competitive examination for the federal civil services. All applications are made online through fpsc.gov.pk, and the fee is paid with a PSID.

What FPSC recruits for

FPSC recruits for federal ministries, divisions and attached departments, such as FIA, Islamabad Capital Territory Police, federal schools and colleges and federal hospitals. It usually publishes consolidated advertisements several times a year, with each post given its own case number. For example, Consolidated Advertisement Phase-3/2026, published on 15 August 2026, offered 524 posts including Secondary School Teachers (BS-17), Charge Nurses and Medical Officers for PIMS, ICT Police Inspectors and FIA Superintendents, with applications closing on 31 August 2026.

FPSC also holds the CSS examination for BS-17 posts in groups such as the Pakistan Administrative Service, Police Service and Foreign Service. Under FPSC’s advance schedule for CSS 2027, the screening test (MPT) was set for 27 September 2026, online applications for the written exam are planned for 10 to 25 November 2026, and the written exam is due to begin on 27 January 2027.

FPSC jobs eligibility: age, domicile and experience

  • Cut-off date: age, qualification and experience are all counted up to the closing date of the advertisement. Your result must be announced by that date.
  • Domicile: provincial and regional quota seats need your own domicile certificate. A domicile in your father’s or husband’s name is not accepted, and merit seats are open to all.
  • Age relaxation: 5 years general relaxation can be added to one other category, such as 3 years for candidates from AJK, Gilgit-Baltistan and certain other groups, 10 years for serving government employees with two years’ continuous service (up to age 55), or up to 15 years for ex-armed forces personnel.
  • Experience: only regular, full-time paid work after the required qualification counts. Part-time, internship and self-employment do not.
  • Government employees: must get a Departmental Permission Certificate (DPC) before applying and enter its reference number in the form.

FPSC test pattern and pass marks

Pay scaleTestTimePass mark
BS-16 and 17100 marks MCQ100 minutes40% overall
BS-18 and 19200 marks MCQ in two parts200 minutes40% in each part
BS-20 and 21200 marks MCQ in two parts200 minutes50% in each part
  • Each wrong answer deducts 0.25 marks, so avoid blind guessing.
  • BS-18 and 19 tests usually include English, a general or teaching section and a professional section linked to the post.
  • Report 45 minutes before the start; doors close 15 minutes before the test, with no entry after that.
  • Bring your admission certificate and original CNIC. Having a mobile phone in the hall can lead to permanent debarment.

Interview, documents and final merit

After the test, FPSC shortlists candidates in merit order, usually five per post for most scales, and checks documents a day before the interview. The interview carries 200 marks, and the qualifying score is 101 for BS-16 and 17, 111 for BS-18, 121 for BS-19, 131 for BS-20 and 141 for BS-21 and 22. Final merit combines test and interview marks.

Documents for verification

  • Original certificates and two sets of attested copies: Matric, Intermediate, degrees and mark sheets
  • CNIC and two photographs
  • Self-domicile certificate
  • Experience certificates in FPSC’s format with exact dates
  • Original DPC for government employees

Common reasons for rejection and fake job alerts

  • Under-age or over-age on the closing date, or result announced after the closing date.
  • Missing attested copies, or copies that do not match the originals.
  • Irrelevant qualification or experience, or no DPC for a government employee.
  • Using unfair means or giving false information, which can lead to debarment.
  • Fake adverts: apply only through fpsc.gov.pk, pay only through an FPSC-generated PSID, and never pay agents who promise selection.
