Who is eligible for the Sehat Card Plus?
Every family registered with NADRA with a permanent address in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is enrolled automatically. There is no form to fill and no separate plastic card. The family data comes from NADRA, so your NADRA family record decides whether you are covered.
- Newborn babies of an enrolled family are covered for one month after birth. After that, the child needs a NADRA Form B to stay covered.
- Newly married couples who create a new family in NADRA are added to the programme in the next update, which happens on 1 January and 1 July each year.
- Widows and divorced women should register as head of family with NADRA. Their records are added in the same January and July updates.
- Unclear family status: if your family tree in NADRA is incomplete, you may not show as eligible until you fix it at NADRA.
To fix your family record or get a Form B, see our NADRA online services guide.

Sehat Card coverage limit 2026
The Rs1 million yearly limit per family is split into three parts. The amount is refilled to the full limit after one year, and any unused balance cannot be taken as cash.
| Part | Limit per family per year | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Basic treatment | Rs200,000 | Secondary care at DHQ, THQ and similar hospitals: emergencies, general medicine, general surgery, orthopaedics, gynae and obstetrics, children, eye and ENT |

| Additional coverage | Rs400,000 | Cancer treatment, kidney transplant, accident and emergency, and ICU care |
In 2025 the programme also paid for kidney and liver transplants and cochlear implants for children. Between them, 48 such procedures were completed in two months, according to APP.
Extra benefits and what is not covered
- Rs1,000 is paid on discharge after childbirth, whether normal or surgical.
- Rs10,000 burial support is paid to the family if a patient dies while admitted under the programme.
- OPD (outpatient) visits are not covered by the main programme. Free treatment is given only when you are admitted to an empanelled hospital.
- Treatments on the official exclusion list are not covered. The full list is on the Coverage page of the official website.
In February 2025, the KP government announced a separate free OPD pilot for poor patients in Mardan, Malakand, Kohat and Chitral. Ask your local hospital whether it is running in your district.

Sehat Card news in 2026
The programme continues in 2026. KP allocated Rs41 billion for the Sehat Card in 2025-26, up from Rs36 billion the year before, and in November 2025 a provincial adviser called social media reports of a suspension baseless. In April 2026, the KP Governor asked officials to expand facilities, including treatment links with the Gambat Institute in Sindh and with Karachi hospitals for KP residents living there. Treat these as proposals until the programme announces them.
Common problems and fixes
- SMS says not eligible: check that your CNIC shows a permanent address in KP and that your family is linked correctly in NADRA.
- Recently married or new family: wait for the next 1 January or 1 July update after your NADRA family record is created.
- Limit used up: the family can use the card until the yearly limit runs out. For life-threatening cases, the programme can allocate extra funds.
- Hospital refuses the card: confirm the hospital is empanelled, then lodge a complaint on 0800-89898 or through the Contact page of the website.
