The Rehmat Card (officially the CM Punjab Rahmat Card) is a Punjab government programme that gives a grant of Rs100,000 to Zakat-eligible widows and to orphan children who have lost both parents. It was launched by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on 1 May 2026 and is run by the Zakat & Ushr Department with Rs5 billion from the provincial Zakat Fund, enough for about 50,000 beneficiaries in the first phase.
First-phase payments were made through JazzCash wallets. What is the Rehmat Card?
The Rehmat Card is a Zakat-funded cash grant for two groups that often have no regular income: widows and children who have lost both parents. Instead of a monthly stipend, eligible people receive a lump sum that they can use for household needs, school costs or a small business.
The programme is fully digital. Applications are taken online and through a mobile app, applicants are checked against NADRA and the Punjab Socio-Economic Registry (PSER), and the money is sent to a JazzCash wallet in the beneficiary’s name. At the launch, the Chief Minister said the aim is that no widow or orphan child in Punjab should feel helpless or abandoned.
How much money do you get?
- Widows: Rs100,000 each.
- Orphans: the Zakat & Ushr Department lists Rs100,000 per child for double-parent orphans (children who have lost both mother and father).
- One Government of Punjab page describes the orphan grant as Rs25,000 per child, with a family maximum of Rs150,000. Because the two official pages differ, confirm the amount that applies to your family on helpline 1077.
The grant is one-off assistance, not a monthly or quarterly payment.
Who is eligible?
You can apply if you are:
- A needy Muslim widow living in Punjab who is eligible to receive Zakat under Shariah, or
- The guardian of a parentless (double-parent) orphan child living in Punjab.
You are not eligible if you:
- Are a government servant or a government pensioner.
- Are Sahib-e-Nisab (own wealth above the Zakat threshold).
- Are a habitual beggar.
- Already receive regular financial assistance from another Government of Punjab scheme.
Documents required
- A valid CNIC that shows your status as a widow. If your CNIC still shows you as married, update it at a NADRA office first, otherwise verification can fail.
- A B-Form for each child included in the application.
- A mobile number registered in your own name, which is needed for the app and the JazzCash wallet.
How to apply for the Rehmat Card
- Open the official portal rahmatcard.punjab.gov.pk or install the CM Punjab Rahmat Card app.
- Register with your CNIC and mobile number.
- Fill in your personal, family and address details exactly as they appear on your CNIC.
- Add each eligible child with their B-Form number.
- Submit the application and keep a screenshot of the confirmation.
- If you cannot apply online, call 1077 or visit your local Zakat & Ushr office for help.
Applying is free. Nobody needs to pay an agent to submit a Rehmat Card application.
How beneficiaries are selected
Selection is not first-come, first-served. The budget is divided between District Zakat Committees according to population, so each district has a quota. Applicants are matched with the Punjab Socio-Economic Registry (PSER), which uses a proxy means test (PMT) to rank households by need. If your data is not in PSER, your details are verified through NADRA instead. In Phase 1, a computerised ballot was held on 23 June 2026 to finalise beneficiaries within district quotas.
How is the payment made?
Phase 1 money was sent digitally through JazzCash. Selected beneficiaries receive the grant in a JazzCash mobile wallet opened against their CNIC, and the government pays the wallet service charges. Disbursement began in July 2026. If you have never used a mobile wallet, read our JazzCash account guide.
Rehmat Card Phase 2: latest update
- The Zakat & Ushr Department’s programme page says payments were stopped on 18 September 2026.
- The same page says the second phase is likely to start very soon, but it does not give a date.
- Some websites have published Phase 2 dates without any official notice. Treat those as rumours until the department or the Punjab government announces a date.
What you can do now: update your CNIC status at NADRA if needed, make sure your mobile SIM is in your own name, keep B-Forms ready for your children, and check the portal or call 1077 for the Phase 2 announcement. We will update this page when the department confirms Phase 2 dates.
How to check Rehmat Card status
Log in to the portal or the app with the CNIC and mobile number you used to apply to see the latest status of your application. You can also call the 1077 helpline with your CNIC number.
Beware of Rehmat Card scams
- The Rehmat Card only uses the official portal, the official app and helpline 1077.
- Nobody from the government will ask you for a fee, your ATM PIN or your JazzCash MPIN.
- Ignore calls or messages that say you have won Rs100,000 and must pay a processing charge first.
