This page lists the current rate, every change made so far in October 2026, and the levies built into the price. PK Portals is an independent information site and is not linked to OGRA, the Petroleum Division or the Government of Pakistan.

Petrol price in Pakistan today: current and previous rate
The latest revision was announced on Friday 9 October 2026. Petrol was cut by 66 paisas while diesel went up by 52 paisas. The table below compares the current rate with the one it replaced.
| Product | Current price (from 10 Oct 2026) | Previous price (9 Oct 2026) | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Petrol | Rs398.30 | Rs398.96 | Down Rs0.66 |
| High speed diesel | Rs396.24 | Rs395.72 | Up Rs0.52 |
All prices are per litre and exclude secondary freight, which is the cost of carrying fuel from an oil company depot to a particular pump. Because of this, the price at a pump in a far district can be slightly higher than the national figure. OGRA also publishes district and pump-wise prices on its website for anyone who wants to check the exact local rate.

From 1 October to 12 October 2026, petrol rose by Rs10.90 per litre in total, while diesel fell by Rs4.11 per litre. Petrol went up in six of the seven revisions after 1 October, reflecting higher international prices and import premiums.
How petrol prices are set in Pakistan
The federal government approved a daily pricing mechanism in July 2026. It replaced the weekly review that was used before. Under the new system, OGRA works out and publishes ex-depot prices every working day, and the Petroleum Division issues the notification.
The main parts of the price are:
- International product price: a rolling average of Platts Arab Gulf prices over the last seven working days, so a jump in world prices reaches Pakistani pumps gradually over about a week.
- Import premium and incidentals: based on the actual cargoes imported, mainly by Pakistan State Oil, in the recent period.
- Exchange rate: the rupee to dollar rate, which changes the rupee cost of every imported litre.
- Levies and margins: petroleum levy, climate support levy, customs duty where it applies, oil company and dealer margins, and the inland freight equalisation margin that keeps prices similar across the country.
When a price is published on a Friday, it normally covers the weekend. In October 2026 the price published for Saturday applied until Monday, and a fresh rate applied from Tuesday.
Petroleum levy and taxes in the petrol price
According to OGRA price sheets for October 2026, each litre of petrol and diesel carries a petroleum levy of Rs80 and a climate support levy of Rs5. Together these come to Rs85 per litre, which is a little over one fifth of the current petrol price. General sales tax is shown as zero on both products.
The levy rate is decided by the Finance Division within a ceiling approved by the federal cabinet. It does not change with daily price movements, so most day to day changes come from world oil prices, import premiums and the exchange rate.
What fuel costs you at the current petrol rate
The table below shows how much common amounts of petrol cost at Rs398.30 per litre. It helps when planning a monthly fuel budget for a motorcycle or small car.
| Petrol quantity | Cost at Rs398.30 per litre |
|---|---|
| 1 litre | Rs398.30 |
| 5 litres | Rs1,991.50 |
| 10 litres | Rs3,983 |
| 20 litres | Rs7,966 |
| 30 litres | Rs11,949 |
| 40 litres | Rs15,932 |
Owners of motorcycles, rickshaws and small cars may be able to cut this cost through the government petrol relief programme. See our petrol subsidy guide for eligibility, registration and how the discount is given.
Kerosene and light diesel oil prices
Kerosene (superior kerosene oil) and light diesel oil are not shown on OGRA daily price sheets for petrol and diesel. Their rates are notified separately, and news reports said the government raised the kerosene price with effect from 3 October 2026. Because these two products are revised on a different schedule, check the latest notification on the OGRA website or with your local supplier before buying in bulk.
How to check the latest petrol price yourself
- Open the OGRA website at ogra.org.pk.
- Go to the Price Publications section, which lists a Daily Fuel Prices file for each working day.
- Open the newest file in English or Urdu and read the total price for MS (petrol) and HSD (diesel).
- For your area, open the District (Pump Wise) Oil Prices file, which shows the rate each oil company charges at pumps in each district.
New rates normally apply from midnight, so the price printed on the pump can change overnight. If you drive for work, it is worth checking the OGRA file each evening.
Common problems and fixes
- The pump price is higher than the national rate: a small difference can be secondary freight. Compare with the district pump-wise list on the OGRA website. If the gap is large, ask the station for a receipt and raise the matter with OGRA, which handles complaints about oil marketing companies.
- Different news sites show different prices: many sites copy old figures. Always match the effective date with the latest OGRA daily price file.
- The pump has not updated its board: the new price applies from 00:00 on the effective date. You can politely point the attendant to the official notification.
